Korean Grammar Lesson 24. -향하여, -향해서, -향해

* Grammar
 
NOUN(을) 향하여(서): heads for, starts/leaves for NOUN; is bound for, goes/proceeds to/in the direction of NOUN;
in the direction of/toward NOUN. The more bookish and older form of 향해(서).  
 
 
* Example Sentence
 
They are making progress toward their goal.
 그들은 목표를 향하여 나아가고 있다.
 
We are swimming to the rock.
우리는 바위를 향해 헤엄쳐가고 있어요.
 
He departed from Korea to head home. 
그는 한국을 떠나 고국으로 향했다.
 
The artillery fired its shells against the enemy.
그 대포는 적군을 향해 포탄을 발사했다.
 
The poet is leaving for the sea.
시인이 바다를 향해 떠나고 있다.
